Haggard is my favorite band. I’m actually a bit dissappointed that there are no other bands like Haggard. Sure, we have Therion, Epica, Aesma Daeva, etc etc. But they’re not really so alike, Haggard and these others, I don’t know why there are no other bands playing this exact kind of music if such metal sub-genre is so beautiful.
I don’t mean for a band to copy another band, but I’ll take an example: Children of Bodom, and Norther, they play both black melodic, and if you’re not really into them, you could even mistake one for the other, they play so alike. They’re both from Finland, and they both have a Final Countdown cover. I like both bands, I don’t mind they sound very similar, they both have original tunes and it’s fine with me.
There are also a lot of other bands who are clons of another, they bring nothing new (according to some) or whatever, but truth is I don’t mind about that either. It’s everybody’s choice to like or dislike (whatever, not just music artists), I wouldn’t discredit them just because of sayings, I would give it a try and find of for myself.
Anyway, Haggard’s last album, Tales of Ithiria, is finally out, and I’ll try to buy it somewhere around here. In the mean time I went to last fm and listened to one of their new album songs, a cover, Hijo de la Luna. It’s true what they say in the aforelinked page comments, being Haggard, we expected something a bit heavier, but it’s a good song nonetheless. I hope I can listen to them live next week, in Karlsruhe.

Sin lugar a dudas Haggard es la mejor banda de metal que existe, habrá que escuchar el nuevo material.

P.D.2 Aunque ahora estoy en una onda vikinga bien profunda con bandas de viking, folk y pagan metal reconozco que como Haggard no hay ninguna banda.
Chido que te agrade Haggard, pero no sé si merezca el calificativo de “mejor”. Es mi banda favorita (actualmente, como he tenido varias diferentes en pasados periodos), pero seguramente otros vitehs tendrán sendas distintas y particulares opiniones.
ADemás no sería mi única banda favorita si hubiera otras que tocaran el mismo género, o sub género más bien. Por ejemplo, me gusta Metallica, y también Megadeth y Annihilator, y de cada una de esas bandas tengo mis rolas favoritas, pero no me atrevería a decir que una es mejor que otra. Todas son chidas, no creo necesaria una competencia, aunque cada quién opinará distinto a mí. Mi opinión es que me gusta mucho la música.
Por cierto, ¿qué bandas escuchas ahora? Yo en LastFM he encontrado una manera muy interesante de conocer nuevas bandas (y extraños subgéneros), como Alestorm (”true scotish pirate metal” o algo así), locas rolas.
Bueno pues escucho mucho metal de las regiones nórdicas como thyrfing, crimfall, finterforst, goat of mendez, heol telwen, menhir, volkolak, ???????????, entre muchas otras bandas, también una de black en especial que esta muy ligada al viking, se llama wolfsmond, a y platicando con un amiga me entro de nuevo la espinita de lo básico y estoy escuchando mucho Megadeth and Iron Maiden. No he abandonado el demás metal es solo que hay tanto y tan poco tiempo.
Metiendome en la plática de Bandas, yo soy un wey que siempre le ha gustado el Metal hasta el HardCore y otros tipos de Generos, últimamente he estado escuhando aun grupo que me gusta un madral. se llama Katatonia, Por el momento es mi banda preferida si lo han escuahdo tal vez les agrado o tal vez no, pero a mi gusto “por el momento “,tal vez un tiempo más adelante cambie de banda, que no será nuevo cada rato cambio…
Pues tengo que decirlo Katatonia es una muy buena banda, aunque no es de mis favoritas si la respeto demasiado pues hacen buen metal, no es bueno que cambies de banda preferida, tal vez dejes de escucharla por un tiempo pero no tiene que dejar de ser tu preferida, mi banda de toda la vida es Slayer y hasta la fecha es el mejor concierto al que he asistido en Gdl cuando venían con el God hates tus all, aunque ahora mis gustos sean mayoritariamente nórdicos siempre sera Slayer mi banda.
Tal vez tengas razón Peter; tal vez no deberia cambiar de banda preferida pero es muy dificil cada que conozco a un nuego grupo me agrada y lo agrego a mi top 10 y algunos cambian de posición y muchos se mantienen así como Opeth, desde sus comienzos siempre han estado en mi top 3 y no creo que lo pueda cambiar.
