Cheers! Joy! It’s our Independence day!

I just came back from a party. An “independence day” party. What seems odd to me is the fact that, while “we” celebrate the 196th day of “our” independence, “we” listen and dance to the rhythm of a music that does not belong to “us”.

Well, I don’t like dancing anyway… That’s why I don’t claim my self Independent –yet I wish I was; independent in a social, cultural, civic, ethic or even religious way. I try to become conscious, to let go the deepest feeling of blind traditions, but I’m still in the process.

Still I know that, without traditions, I wouldn’t be what I am now. There are things that can not be ignored, that need to exist in order for us to live the way we live now, at least, we need to know something to have the confidence that we dislike that something. So we need traditions, in order, just as an example, to communicate…
